About

Allynn Carpenter is an artist living and working in Portland, Oregon. He works in oil painting, colored pencil, gouache, photography, and collage, most recently delving into tattooing as both a career and new facet of his creative practice. Allynn’s primary area of interest is the body. His own transition and navigation of the world as a transgender man has influenced how he perceives the relationship between corporeal senses and personal identity. In much of his work, themes of transformation, gender, and the complexities of self-image inform intimate self portraits that incorporate gouache, colored pencil, and photos of his own body.

Allynn got his undergraduate degree from The Evergreen State College and MFA in Visual Studies at The Pacific Northwest College of Art. He has shown work throughout the Pacific Northwest.
